How to automatically take screenshots of a range of cells in a Google Sheet

Learn how to capture a select range of cells in a Google Sheet spreadsheet using PagePixels.

Introduction

PagePixels is a screenshot automation tool that you can use to take automatic scheduled screenshots of web pages, including specific cells in a Google Sheet.

PagePixels is free to start, and this tutorial demonstrates how to create a screenshot automation that captures a select range of cells within Google Sheets on a daily schedule.

How to take scheduled screenshots of a range of cells in a Google Sheet

To take daily screenshots of a range of cells in a Google Sheet:

1

Create a Publish to Web link

To display only a range of cells and be accessible to PagePixels, you can use Google Sheets' "Publish to Web" option.

Click File > Share > Publish to Web

Select your sheet.

Click the Publish button.

Click OK to publish.

Copy the URL that appears in the box

2

Modify the URL to only display a range of cells

Open another tab and go to the "Publish to Web" link you just copied.

Return to your sheet and copy your cell range.

For example: C2:D8

Go back to your tab with the "Publish to Web" link and add a range query to the end of the URL: &range=

Paste your cell range as the value (&range=C2:D8).

For example:

Copy your modified URL to use in PagePixels.

3

Create a screenshot in PagePixels

Log in to your PagePixels account, and click the +Create Screenshot button.

4

Set your schedule

By default, new screenshots are set to an every 5 minute interval.

For a daily screenshot, change the values to every "1" "Days" using the input and dropdown fields.

5

Add your URL

Paste your modified "Publish to Web" link into the Website URL to Capture field.

6

Increase the Wait Time

To give your Google Sheets cells plenty of time to load, increase the Time to wait value from 1500 to 6000 (value is in milliseconds).

7

Save Screenshot

Click the green Save Screenshot button (top-right).

Your screenshot automation is now set, and your first Google Sheets screenshot will be taken shortly.
