ScreenshotOne alternative

ScreenshotOne alternatives for teams that need the capture to repeat

ScreenshotOne is the most configurable renderer in this category and by most accounts the best one. It is also a rendering API and nothing else: no scheduler, no change detection, no ordered action sequence, at any price. Geolocation and lazy-load scrolling capture, which we include on the free plan, begin at $79.

At 15,000 captures a month that is $259 on ScreenshotOne against $49.99 here. And the $259 is only the render. The cron service that fires it, the diff that decides something moved, and the alert that tells you are still yours to build and keep running. PagePixels is $59.99 for 30,000 captures, and schedules them, stores them, compares each one to the last, and tells you when a page changed. Every plan, including free.

ScreenshotOne pricing verified 27 July 2026 against public pricing. See the note on conflicting third-party listings below.

01 / The structural difference

ScreenshotOne renders beautifully. It does not come back tomorrow.

ScreenshotOne is a rendering engine, and the category benchmark for one. Deep option coverage, excellent ad and cookie blocking, fast cold starts, PDFs, video on the higher tiers, signed URLs for direct embedding. If your job is to turn one URL into one beautiful image right now, it is hard to do better.

What they do not build is the layer above the render: the scheduler that fires it again tomorrow, the diff that tells you something moved, the archive that keeps four years of it, and the alert that reaches you. That layer is not an add-on tier on ScreenshotOne. It does not exist, so it becomes yours.

Recurring capture

No native scheduler

Their own automation documentation routes scheduled screenshots through Zapier's schedule zap, or your own cron. PagePixels schedules natively from every five minutes to once a year, on every plan.

Knowing what moved

No change detection

ScreenshotOne returns an image or a PDF. Comparing this capture to the last one, deciding what counts as a change, and alerting on it is code you write and maintain. PagePixels compares a CSS selector you choose on every run and posts the old and new values to a webhook or Slack.

Getting to the page

No ordered action sequence

Thirteen action types run in the order you list them: log in, fill the form, choose the dropdown, click through, wait for the element, then capture. Nothing on their site lists an equivalent ordered sequence.

History

No managed archive

Renders land in your own S3, R2, or GCS bucket, which is better if you want the bytes in your data lake and worse if you wanted retention and retrieval handled for you.

02 / Feature gating

What geolocation costs on each side

ScreenshotOne reserves geolocation, scrolling capture, and video generation for the $79 plan and above. The $17 tier covers core capture: screenshots, PDFs, ad blocking, and caching. Three rows below go to us because the capability is free here. One goes to them, because we do not offer video at all.

One cent apart at 2,000, and then it stops being close

At 2,000 captures the entry plans are $17.00 and $16.99. That is a tie, and we would rather say so than dress a penny up as a saving. We include 3,000 at that price, so the honest version is: same money, 50 percent more captures.

The distance opens at the next step. Exceed their 2,000 and the next plan is $79. We are still $16.99 at 3,000 and $29.99 at 10,000, where they are $79 for the same volume. At 15,000 it is $49.99 against $259. Every plan comes with 2x retina scaling, JPEG, PNG, WebP, and PDF output, and full-page capture. Every plan also runs the complete multi-step sequence: log in, fill the form, select the dropdown, click through, wait for the element, then capture. That is the whole product at $16.99, not a preview of it.

Feature parity moves the entry price too. Geolocation and scrolling capture are on their $79 plan, so a buyer who needs country-accurate capture starts at $79 rather than $17. Both are on our free plan. Scheduling, change detection, and multi-step have no tier at all on their side, because they are not built. The headline numbers are close. The products at those numbers are not.

03 / Side by side

Four of these rows go to ScreenshotOne and they sit in the table with the same styling as the rest. Video, rendering depth, signed URL embedding, and SDK breadth are theirs. A table where the competitor wins nothing is not a comparison, it is an advertisement.

ScreenshotOne pricing and plan gating verified 27 July 2026 against public pricing pages. Conflicting third-party listings. Two independent sources put the ladder at $17 / 2,000, $79 / 10,000 and $259 / 50,000, which is what this page uses. At least one review site lists $49 / 10,000, $99 / 50,000 and $279 / 200,000 instead. If you are making a procurement decision, price it from their own page on the day.

Cost against volume, log scale

Logarithmic scale, so the vertical gap understates the dollar gap at the top of the chart. The two lines are plotted from 25 renders, including the point where they nearly touch, rather than starting where the difference flatters us.

Where ScreenshotOne is cheaper: nowhere, but at 2,000 it is a tie

There is exactly one point on the ladder where the two are level: 2,000 captures a month, $16.99 against $17.00. One cent. We include 3,000 at that price, so it is a tie on money and a win on volume, and that is the strongest honest claim available at the bottom of the range.

Below that, both are free. Our free plan is 25 a month with no card. Theirs is 100 a month and asks for one.

Above 2,000 it stops being close. At 3,000 their entry cap is exceeded, so it is $16.99 against $79. At 10,000 it is $29.99 against $79. At 15,000 their 10,000 cap is exceeded, so it is $49.99 against $259. At 30,000 it is $59.99 against $259. At 50,000 it is $99.99 against $259, which is the narrowest the gap gets above the entry tier and still 2.6x.

Above 50,000 there is nothing to compare. We publish to 200,000 at $399.99. We could find no published ScreenshotOne price above 50,000, so anything we asserted about the top of their ladder would be invention. If you are buying at that volume, ask them directly. Where both ladders are published, the gap is consistent: $17 against $16.99 at the bottom, $79 against $49.99 in the middle, $259 against $99.99 at 50,000. The features that arrive with those tiers are the actual argument.

Note on the ladder. Public sources disagree on ScreenshotOne's middle tiers. This page uses $17 / 2,000, $79 / 10,000 and $259 / 50,000, corroborated by two independent sources. One review site publishes a different ladder. Every figure here carries the date it was checked, and we would rather flag the disagreement than pick the number that flatters us.

05 / Agents

One of us ships an MCP server.

We could find no official ScreenshotOne MCP server published as of 27 July 2026. That is a dated negative from a search, not a statement from them, and it is the kind of thing that changes in a quarter. Check before you rely on it.

PagePixels ships a hosted remote server at mcp.pagepixels.com/mcp over Streamable HTTP, with OAuth 2.1 and dynamic client registration, so there is no key to paste into a config file. It exposes roughly fifteen tools covering instant capture, scheduled config create, update, delete and list, archive queries, change notification history, Real Locations, and AI analysis.

An agent with our server can put a page under observation today and read back what changed next month. That is a different capability from taking a picture.

06 / Geography

The same feature, two tiers apart

Both products can capture from a chosen region. The difference is what it costs to start, and that difference is $79 a month.

What ScreenshotOne does

ScreenshotOne offers geolocation capture and it works. It begins on the Plus plan at $79 a month. On the $17 tier a capture comes from wherever their infrastructure sits, so a page that prices by country is only ever seen from one region.

What PagePixels does

150+ genuine capture locations, covering countries, US states, and major cities, on every plan including free. The request egresses from the region you name, so geo-priced offers, localised search results, and regional consent walls render the way a real visitor there sees them. There is no proxy to source.

To be precise about the claim: ScreenshotOne has geolocation, and it works. The two differences are price and plan. Theirs starts at $79 a month. Ours is on the free plan, along with 150+ named countries, US states, and cities.

07 / Total cost

What you would have to build

ScreenshotOne gives you a capture endpoint, and a very good one. Everything between that endpoint and a working monitoring system is yours to build, run, and keep running. Here is the shape of it.

  1. A cron service

Or a Zapier plan with a task quota sized to your capture volume, plus retries and a queue for when one run overlaps the next.

  2. An image store

With a retention lifecycle, so the bucket does not grow without limit and old captures expire on a policy you decide.

  3. A diff engine

Fetch the element, compare it to last time, decide what counts as a change, and store the history. This is the part that takes a fortnight.

  4. An alert path

Slack, webhook, or email, with enough state that you are not re-alerting on the same change every run.

A few weeks of engineering, then permanent maintenance on a component that fails quietly, on top of a per-render rate that is already 1.5x to 3x ours. The failure mode is the expensive part: a cron job that stops firing does not page anyone, and you find out when someone asks why the archive has a hole in it.

In fairness, plenty of ScreenshotOne customers own that layer deliberately, and it works well for them. If capture is one component inside a larger system you already operate, buying the best renderer and wiring it yourself is a defensible choice. This section is for the buyer who assumed the scheduling came with it.

08 / The other side

When ScreenshotOne is the better choice

If you need video capture

MP4 and WEBM recording of a page, on the Plus plan and above. We do not offer video in any form. If your product needs a scrolling video of a page rather than a still, this comparison ends here and you should buy ScreenshotOne.

If you need the deepest rendering control

ScreenshotOne is widely rated the most configurable renderer in the category, and the reputation is earned: cold start behaviour, ad and cookie blocking quality, and the sheer number of render options. If a capture depends on one specific rendering flag, check their option list against ours before you switch.

If you want broad official SDK coverage

Their SDK and integration surface is wider than ours. We publish NPM, PyPI, and RubyGems packages plus an MCP server. If your stack is outside those three languages, you will be writing HTTP calls against our API where they may hand you a client.

If you are under 2,000 captures a month and want nothing else

At 2,000 the two entry plans are one cent apart. If you have no interest in scheduling, change alerts, multi-step capture, or geolocation, there is no financial reason to move, and we would rather say so than pretend a penny is a reason.

The buyer who should choose them

A developer who wants the best single-shot renderer available, needs video or a specific rendering flag, and either already owns their scheduling and diffing layer or genuinely does not need one.

09 / Migration

Moving from ScreenshotOne to PagePixels

Your render option set maps onto a capture config almost one to one: viewport, full page, waits, selectors, custom JavaScript. Create configs individually, or in bulk through the API or MCP.

Honest note: if your pipeline depends on video capture, or on one specific rendering option you have already tuned, check it against our option list before you move. Video we simply do not have. Captures here are kept for 48 months while the account stays active, and delivered through Slack, Dropbox, webhooks, or the CDN embed URL rather than written into your own bucket.

  1. Map your render option set onto a capture config: viewport, full page, waits, selectors, blocking. Most options carry over by name.
  2. Create the configs, individually in the app or in bulk through the API or the MCP server.
  3. Add the schedule you were running in cron or Zapier, and switch that automation off.
  4. Add a change action on the selector you actually care about, pointed at Slack or a webhook.
  5. Run both in parallel for a fortnight on the free plan before you cancel anything.
10 / FAQ

Questions people ask.

Is PagePixels cheaper than ScreenshotOne?

At every volume except the very bottom, where they are effectively level. At 2,000 captures we are $16.99 against $17.00, a difference of one cent, and we include 3,000. Above that the gap opens hard: at 10,000 we are $29.99 against $79, and at 15,000 we are $49.99 against $259. Verified against public pricing on the date shown on this page.

Does ScreenshotOne have a scheduler?

No. It is a rendering API, and a very good one, but nothing in it fires a capture on an interval. Scheduling means your own cron, a Zapier plan, or a worker you maintain. PagePixels schedules natively from every five minutes to once a year, on every plan including free.

Does ScreenshotOne do change detection?

No. It returns an image or a PDF. Comparing this capture to the last one, deciding what counts as a change, and alerting on it is code you write. PagePixels compares a CSS selector you choose on every run and sends the old and new values to a webhook or Slack.

Can ScreenshotOne log in and click through before capturing?

It supports cookies and headers, so a session you already hold can be replayed. What it does not have is an ordered sequence of actions: type into this field, click that button, wait for this element, then capture. PagePixels has 13 action types that run in the order you list them.

Is geolocation included on the ScreenshotOne entry plan?

No. Geolocation, scrolling captures, and video generation are reserved for the $79 plan and above. The $17 tier covers core capture: screenshots, PDFs, ad blocking, and caching. PagePixels includes 150+ capture locations on every plan, including free.

What does ScreenshotOne do better?

Video capture, which we do not offer at all. Depth of rendering control, where they are the category benchmark. And breadth of official SDK coverage. Those are listed in full further up this page rather than buried here.

How long does PagePixels keep my screenshots?

48 months, for as long as your account remains active, with no upper bound on the size of the archive. ScreenshotOne offers caching and storage integrations rather than a stated archive period, so the archive is whatever your own bucket policy makes it.

Can I try both before switching?

Yes, and you should. Our free plan is 25 captures a month with no card and no phone number. Theirs is 100 a month and asks for a card. Run the same workload through both for a fortnight.
